PCF8574N

PCF8574N is a Texas Instruments 8-bit I2C I/O expander in a PDIP-16 package. It provides eight quasi-bidirectional I/O lines and an open-drain interrupt output, with an I2C clock frequency up to 100 kHz. The datasheet recommended supply range is 2.5 V to 6.0 V. In character-LCD interface boards it transfers parallel data and control signals to a separate LCD controller; it does not generate raw LCD-glass drive waveforms.
