NOR Flash for your next design.

Start with the host. Match the memory. Source the exact part.

Compare NOR Flash by density, interface, supply voltage and package. Build an exact-MPN inquiry for boot code, firmware storage or an approved replacement.

Product listings are sourcing references. Availability and commercial terms are confirmed on inquiry.

Choose by requirement

Four checks before a part-number shortlist.

Use the system requirements to narrow the catalog. A larger density or faster clock alone does not establish compatibility.

CAPACITY

Size the firmware image

Allow space for the boot image, update strategy and application data. Keep Mbit and MB separate, and check the usable address map.

HOST INTERFACE

Match the controller

Identify SPI / Quad, Octal or parallel support. Check command format, SDR / DDR operation, dummy cycles and startup protocol.

POWER & TIMING

Check the whole operating range

Match supply and I/O voltage, temperature, read timing and program / erase limits. A nominal voltage is not the complete specification.

ORDERING CODE

Keep every suffix

Confirm package, pin count, temperature grade, packing option and device revision. The full orderable code belongs in the BOM.

Interface choice

Match the bus before comparing the MHz.

Interface names describe how the host communicates. They do not guarantee a common pinout, command set or reset state.

SPI · DUAL · QUAD

Serial NOR Flash

A practical starting point for firmware storage and supported memory-mapped code access. Check the exact instruction and address phases for the selected read mode.

  • Quad SPI and QPI are distinct protocol configurations.
  • Review Quad Enable behavior and status registers.
  • Confirm address width, dummy cycles and clock limits.
OCTAL · SDR / DDR

Octal NOR Flash

Consider when the host supports the required wider interface and timing. Mode changes, reset behavior and data-strobe requirements are device-specific.

  • Match the host controller's supported protocol.
  • Check power-up mode and configuration sequence.
  • Review routing, timing margins and read latency.
PARALLEL · x8 / x16

Parallel NOR Flash

Match the memory bus organization, access timing and command interface of the existing design. Serial and parallel devices need different host connections.

  • Check bus width and byte / word organization.
  • Match erase architecture and sector layout.
  • Verify package pinout and address mapping.

Boot & replacement review

Same density is only the first check.

For a new design or replacement, verify the exact device with the host boot ROM, firmware driver and programming tools.

CheckWhat to compareWhy it matters
Power-up & resetDefault protocol, reset sequence, power-up timing and configuration persistence. The host must communicate before software can configure a faster mode.
Read & address modesRead opcode, address length, 3-byte / 4-byte handling, dummy cycles and SDR / DDR timing.Identical capacity does not mean identical startup or read behavior.
Erase & programSector / block layout, page boundaries, write-enable sequence, status polling and protection bits.Update and recovery code depends on the memory's command behavior.
Hardware fitVCC / I/O range, pin assignments, package dimensions, reset / hold pins and temperature grade.A similar package outline does not establish electrical interchangeability.
System qualificationIdentification / discovery data, boot tests, programming support, endurance / retention conditions and application requirements.A proposed alternate needs engineering validation in the actual system.

MCU firmware

Match the controller mode and image size; test reset and firmware update behavior.

Processor boot storage

Start with the boot ROM requirements, then verify the driver and memory map.

Legacy design sourcing

Keep the original full MPN and share the approved alternate list with the inquiry.

Package & ordering details

Keep the footprint and the full suffix together.

Use product images to recognize the package style. The manufacturer's dimensional drawing and pinout determine board fit.

SOIC / SOP

Check lead count and body width. Narrow and wide 8-lead outlines can look similar in a thumbnail.

WSON / USON

Check body dimensions, pad arrangement, height and exposed-pad requirements for the exact package code.

BGA / WLCSP

Check ball count, pitch, body size and ball assignment. Similar package names do not establish a shared footprint.

TSOP

Check pin count, body dimensions, pin assignment and the selected memory organization.

A package image is a visual reference. Markings, dimensions and terminal assignments must be confirmed for the complete ordering code.

Selection FAQ

Questions to resolve before an RFQ.

Is 128 Mbit the same capacity as 128 MB?

No. There are eight bits in a byte, so 128 Mbit corresponds to 16 MB when using the same unit convention. Keep the manufacturer's density and memory organization in the specification.

Can I replace a 3 V NOR Flash with a 1.8 V part?

Only if the complete system is designed and validated for the replacement's supply and I/O levels. Compare operating ranges and pin functions; a matching capacity or package is not sufficient.

Are Quad SPI and QPI the same?

They are distinct protocol configurations. The width used for the command, address and data phases can differ. Check the read instruction, mode-entry sequence and reset behavior for the exact part.

Does a higher clock frequency guarantee faster boot?

No. Host limitations, command overhead, dummy cycles, data width and access pattern affect the result. Compare timing in the intended read mode and measure on the target system.

Can NOR Flash devices with the same density be direct replacements?

Not without checking voltage, package pinout, boot protocol, address mode, erase layout, status registers and software support. Submit the original MPN and any approved alternates for sourcing review.

What if my exact part is not in the catalog?

Add the full MPN and quantity in the RFQ list below, or upload your BOM on the inquiry page. Availability, lead time and commercial terms are confirmed for the specific request.

Will this catalog show new products automatically?

Published products visible in the NOR Flash category appear on the next successful refresh. The page loads the catalog when opened and refreshes every minute while visible. A failed refresh keeps the previous complete result.

Does adding a part to the RFQ list send an inquiry?

No. Copy the prepared text or download the TXT file, then paste it or attach it in the inquiry form and submit. The list is not transferred or sent automatically.
